Bio Diversity - Plant Lots
The ability to Plant Lots is we believe right at the heart of creating a more resilient and sustainable community and economy. This project / sub group works hand in hand with the Produce Local project and ties in with a lot of the fine work established by IEAG in the early days of the initiative who helped form such a fertile ground for PL:21 to grow from.
Indeed the first event that we ever put on was a Plant Lots project when we ran a seedling swapping opportunity at the last Ivybridge Farmers Market in April 2008. This particular project birthed the seed swapping event which now occurs every February in Ermington, being hosted in conjunction with Ermington Companion Planters. The Plant Lots sub group in conjunction with IEAG continues to plant trees in order to enhance the wildlife habitat in the PL:21 area and do what we can to offset carbon emissions. As part of the Local Food Forum we hope to Plant Lots of edible landscapes in and around the town in the not too distant future. If you would like to get involved with the Plant Lots Sub Group and / or have any suggestions for future projects, why not contact us now. |
