Education - Positive Learning
The PL:21 Education Sub Group is one of the latest to form. It has been set up to both educate and train, young and old in the skills necessary to create the transition towards a more resilient and sustainable community within the PL:21 area. It is hoping to engage with local schools, youth groups, education establishments as well as our elders within our society in order share skill sets and unite more people on the issues we are challenged with.
It comes on the back of previous education events we have run in the community, notably in March 2010 when we ran a pilot project for the new sub group. IEAG helped organize 4 learning workshops with funding from Learn Devon. These workshops were provided free to participants and feedback indicated that they were both enjoyable and effective. This was the first time PL:21 had organized training events. The workshops were: Natural Nests led by Amanda Pellatt, Felt Making led by Esin Forster, Permaculture in the Landscape led by Tess Wilmot and Trees for Health led by Liz Turner.
The emphasis in 2011 switched more towards Forest School activities being in the main led and co-ordinated by Rachel Instone with the support of a number of people all wishing to aid in the education of transition principles.
