The Ivybridge area now has its very own community energy society, South Dartmoor Community Energy (SDCE), which was officially registered with the Financial Conduct Authority on the 8th June 2016. The society has evolved out of the PL:21 energy group and is a community benefit society, with 7 volunteer Directors. (www.southdartmoorcommunityenergy.org)
SDCE aims to help local people reduce their fuel bills through energy efficiency advice and initiatives and to develop renewable energy projects to reduce the local carbon footprint and fund further community projects. Over winter 16/17 the society was part of the Governments Big Energy Saving Network and helped over 280 local residents with detailed advice and support on reducing their energy bills.
South Dartmoor Community Energy is always looking for groups to provide energy advice sessions and talks to and teams of home visiting professionals to speak to. They are also looking for businesses on the Lee Mill Industrial estate who are willing to explore working with them to install solar panels on their roof as a community project. If you can support their energy work in any way please get in touch with: Katie Reville
